The translation work lasted almost a year.

For the first time in the world, "Kobzar" by the outstanding Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko has been translated into Chinese.

According to Yulia Shilenko, Chief Curator of the Taras Shevchenko National Museum, this is the first edition of "Kobzar" in Chinese, translated from Ukrainian sources, Ukrinform reports.

In 2015, a delegation of Chinese artists visited Ukraine, and they proposed publishing "Kobzar" in Chinese.

"We started last August… we made a number of trips: we went to Kaniv and visited the Taras Shevchenko museums in Kyiv. During this trip, they (the Chinese artists – Ed.) made sketches and drawings, and afterward, they spent a year working to recreate their impressions and feelings," Shilenko said.
